A very warm (African type of warm…so actually a hot) welcome to you!  This blog was set up to share some of my (actually Our, but read on to see more about that) experiences about traveling in Southern Africa!  It focuses on traveling off the beaten track and takes you offroad but may have some tamer experiences as well. 

I have been fortunate enough to travel to many places on this planet of ours!  But Africa is a special place.  Someone once told me that Africa is like the dust which gets into your Vellies (leather ankle boots worn by many farmers), no matter how hard you scrub, it will always be there.  Africa gets into your soul like that!  And so, I chose to start a blog where I tell you about my adventures in my home country South Africa and all its neighbors (and maybe even a little further away as well if I am lucky), to tell you about a unique spot to have prawns in Mozambique or about the small picknick site in the shade of a Camel Thorn tree in Namibia. I dont want to harp on about myself, so if you want to see more about that check out my section on the About us page.

Here at thatsmypoint.com I form part of a team, some months ago I met my girlfriend via another one of my blogs and we decided to tackle this one together! Her name is Xanthe, and you can read more about her in her section About us. She is definitely the more photogenic of the two of us, she loves driving (prefers going fast but she has come to quite enjoy the experience of driving a diesel truck) and trying new things (culinary or other) is something which comes naturally to her! She makes a MEAN cocktail and will always have a shot of tequila ready! You will notice that we both write articles and where mine normally focus on trip reports to try to expose you to new exciting places and hers normally focuses on food or drink or comments on activities, we will swap these around often enough just to keep it interesting!  We both love both aspects afterall!  Look out for little comments from either of us in the other ones articles!
